Your privacy is very important to Yupa Studio. We therefore comply with privacy law. This means that your data is safe with us and that we always use it properly. In this privacy statement, we explain what we do on yupastudio.com with the information we learn about you. Yupa Studio was previously called Haakspot.

If you have questions, or if you want to know exactly what we keep about you, please contact Yupa Studio at hi@yupastudio.com.

Processing your order

When you place an order with us, we use your personal data to handle it properly. For this, we use your payment details, name and address details, email address, phone number, and billing address. We do this based on the performance of the contract: without this data, we cannot deliver your order.

You pay through Shopify Payments. This lets you check out with iDEAL, Bancontact, credit card, or PayPal. We receive information about your payment from the payment provider.

If you order a digital product, such as a crochet pattern in PDF, you will receive your files through FileMonk. Physical orders are delivered by PostNL or DHL. For this, we pass on your name and address to the delivery service.

We keep this information until the order is completed and for seven years after that (this is the statutory retention obligation).

Your account

You can create an account in our web store, but you do not have to: you can also check out without an account. Our account system runs on Shopify. You log in with a code that you receive by email. So there is no username and no password that you have to choose and remember.

In your account, you can see your details and previous orders. For this, we use your name and address details, phone number, email address, and billing address. We do this based on your consent: you choose whether you want an account. We keep this information until you close the account. We keep this information so that you do not have to fill it in again every time and so that we can reach you more easily when that is needed for the web store. You can change your information through your account whenever you want.

Yupa+ membership

If you join Yupa+, our paid membership, you create an account with Outseta. That is the platform we use to run the membership. You use it to log in to the membership area, and your subscription payment runs through it. That payment is processed by Stripe. We do this based on the performance of the contract: without this data, we cannot give you access or process the payment.

Outseta records the following for this:

  • Your email address, first name, and last name
  • Your address (the billing address is a required field when you sign up)
  • Your password, in encrypted form, with the moment it was last changed
  • If you fill them in: your mobile and business phone number, profile picture, job title, time zone, and language setting
  • Technical data that is recorded automatically: your IP address, the page you came from, your browser and device, and the moment you last logged in
  • If you log in with your Google account or link your Discord account, that link is also stored
  • Your subscription or unsubscription to our email list and the link to your billing account

We keep this data for as long as your membership runs and for up to two years after that. We keep invoices for seven years (this is the statutory retention obligation).

Discord

Yupa+ comes with a community on Discord. If you link your Discord account to your membership, that link automatically gives you access to the right channels. For this, we record which Discord account belongs to your membership. Discord's privacy policy applies to what you do and share on Discord itself.

Contact form and newsletter

You can use the contact form to ask us questions or make requests. For this, we use your email address and the information you fill in yourself. We do this based on your consent. We keep this information so that we can easily look it up if you have follow-up questions. It also helps us train our customer service to get even better. The contact form runs on the app Powerful Form Builder.

You can subscribe to our newsletter. It contains news, tips, and information about our products and services. You can cancel this subscription at any time. Every newsletter contains an unsubscribe link. You can also let us know by email. Your email address is only added to the list of subscribers with your consent. This data is kept until you cancel the subscription.

For the newsletter and for the emails about your order, such as the confirmation, we use Klaviyo. On some forms on our website, you can fill in your date of birth. If you do, it is stored there as well.

Reviews

You can leave a review about our products on our website. This runs through Judge.me. For this, we use your name, your email address, and the content of your review. We do this based on your consent: you choose whether to post a review. Your review appears on the website with the name you provide when writing it.

Advertising

From time to time, we send advertising about offers and new products or services. We do this by email or through social media. You can object to this advertising at any time. Every email contains an unsubscribe link. You can block us or use the unsubscribe option. You can also let us know by email.

Cookies and statistics

Our web store uses cookies. Cookies are small files in which we can store information so that you do not have to fill it in every time. They also let us see that you are visiting us again. When you visit our website for the first time, we show a notice explaining cookies. We will ask you to accept the use of these cookies.

You can disable cookies in your browser, but some features of the website will then not work properly.

To see how our website is used, we use Google Analytics. Google Analytics is only loaded after you have accepted cookies and is configured in a privacy-friendly way.

At the bottom of our pages, there is a block with photos from our Instagram account. Those images are loaded from Instagram's servers. As a result, Meta, the company behind Instagram, may receive data about your visit, such as your IP address.

Visitors from the United States

If you live in a US state with a privacy law that provides for this, you can opt out of the sharing of your data for targeted advertising. You can do this on the page yupastudio.com/pages/data-sharing-opt-out.

Sharing with third parties

We work with certain companies that may receive the personal data mentioned above from us, or that process it on our behalf. Grouped by purpose, these are:

  • Web store and orders: Shopify, Shopify Payments, PostNL, DHL, and FileMonk
  • Membership and community: Outseta, Stripe, and Discord
  • Email, forms, and reviews: Klaviyo, Judge.me, and Powerful Form Builder
  • Operation and statistics of the website: Google Analytics, and the Instagram block described above

We also use n8n, our own automation. With it, we create discount codes and send internal notifications, for example. n8n runs on our own server with the hosting company Hostinger, in Germany. This keeps your data within the EU.

With companies that process your data on our behalf, we make agreements about the security and use of your data.

Accessing, changing, and deleting your data

If you have questions, or if you want to know which personal data we have about you, you can always contact us. See the contact details below.

You have the following rights:

  • To receive an explanation of which personal data we have and what we do with it
  • To access the exact personal data we have
  • To have errors corrected
  • To have outdated personal data deleted
  • To receive your data in a readable file, so you can pass it on to another party (data portability)
  • To withdraw consent
  • To object to a specific use

Please make sure to always state clearly who you are, so that we can be certain that we do not change or delete the data of the wrong person.

Filing a complaint

If you feel that we are not helping you in the right way, you have the right to file a complaint with the supervisory authority. This is the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
