Out of my head, into the present
Hi there! My name is Paula, and together with my boyfriend Laurens, I live in our very own self-built campervan. Right now, we’re travelling through Spain and Portugal while working toward one important goal: introducing as many people as possible to the joy of crochet.
Crochet entered my life in 2022, and I was hooked from the first moment. What started as a hobby to clear my mind, quickly grew into my biggest passion - and eventually into my full-time job: Yupa Studio (formerly known as Haakspot: 'haak' means 'to crochet' in Dutch).

Creativity is a huge part of me. Besides that I'm full of energy, always looking for my next adventure. Yupa brings all of that together, which is why I work on this amazing community every day with a lot of fun and passion! 🌞
Laurens is our IT-guy, I do the rest :). Aside from that, we receive help from some really lovely people, whom you can read more about here.
A dream come true
Crochet to unwind
Ever since I was a little girl, I was always doing something creative. Coloring, making music, crafting, messing around with clay or performing mini-musicals with my little sister, which we forced our parents to watch.
Being creative is my way of unwinding. It grounds me and makes me forget about everything else. It’s been a dream come true to be able to turn my passion into my job - and to inspire so many people with that passion!
Yet another hobby
But crochet was here to stay
In 2022, my mother-in-law crocheted some plushies and my brain went: I want to be able to do that! I went down a rabbit hole for days on YouTube and Google and before I knew it, I had a new hyperfixation.
But where I normally started another hobby every other month - playing the piano, clarinet, ukulele, (kite)surfing, painting-by-number, or really anything else - crochet was here to stay. I never get bored of it; there are endless possibilities and I’m still discovering something new every time!
The go-to crochet brand for new generations
My mission
Since day 1, it has been my goal to connect and inspire new generations using creativity and crochet. And it works! Today, Yupa Studio is the go to crochet brand for new generations in the Netherlands and Belgium. Since June 2026, we’ve even started expanding internationally.
These last few years, thousands of young adults have been introduced to this amazing hobby and I’ll keep trying my best these coming years to infect as many people as possible with the crochet-virus.
